What a technical rider is.
It is the instruction sheet for the people running the room. Audio, video, lights, power, and who to call when a line is wrong. Keep hospitality and the guest list off this page.
Put this on it:
- Who is on stage, by role — not a biography
- Input list: channel, source, mic or DI, stand, notes
- Monitor mixes — wedges vs IEMs, how many, who needs what
- What you carry vs what the house must provide
- FOH and monitor console notes only if they actually matter
- Power: where, how much, what cannot share a circuit
- A technical contact who answers the phone on load-in day
